What percentile is your CS2 rank really?

Counter-Strike 2 shows your rating number but not where it sits in the broader player population. Valve stopped publishing official rank distribution data when CS2 launched. Enter your Premier rating band to see where you stand among the ranked player base.

What rating is average in CS2 Premier?

Based on Leetify community data from 2.8 million ranked CS2 players collected in February 2026, the median Premier rating sits at approximately 8,900. The 8,000-11,999 band is the largest, containing around 34% of all tracked players. This means the majority of active CS2 Premier players sit in the light blue to blue colour range on the rating display.

The distribution is heavily right-skewed: the lower bands are relatively sparse because new players placed in Premier often start with a calibration rating before settling into the 5,000-12,000 range. The very high rating bands (18,000+) represent a small but distinct elite of players who are typically semi-professional or professionally trained.

Why doesn't Valve publish CS2 rank distribution data?

Valve published rank distribution data for CS:GO periodically but stopped when CS2 launched in September 2023. The Premier rating system in CS2 replaced the old tier system, and Valve has not released official distribution data for the new format. Community tools like Leetify and csstats.gg fill this gap by aggregating data from players who connect their Steam accounts and consent to tracking. This data is comprehensive but not universal.

A rating of 10,000 places you in the 8,000-11,999 band, which contains the largest portion of players at approximately 34%. This puts you around the 30th to 64th percentile depending on your exact rating within the band. It is solidly in the middle of the distribution. Most regular players who play a reasonable number of Premier matches settle somewhere in this range.

A rating of 20,000 or above puts you in the top 4% of all tracked CS2 Premier players. The 20,000-24,999 band holds approximately 3% of players, and 25,000+ holds the top 1%. Players in this range are typically highly experienced and often play at a semi-professional or professional level, with strong mechanical skills and game knowledge.

CS2 operates on a seasonal model with rating adjustments at season start. Valve typically applies a soft reset or decay at the beginning of each season, pulling ratings toward the median. This means very high ratings become harder to maintain across seasons, and the distribution can shift slightly after resets. The Leetify data reflects a snapshot in time and may shift slightly after seasonal resets.

The Premier rating system is not directly comparable to the old CS:GO rank tiers (Silver, Gold Nova, Master Guardian, etc.). The old system had 18 tiers; the new system is a continuous number. Broadly, a rating around 8,000-10,000 is often compared to Gold Nova territory, 12,000-15,000 to Master Guardian, 15,000-18,000 to Distinguished Master Guardian to Legendary Eagle, and 18,000+ to Supreme and Global Elite. These are rough analogies, not official mappings.

The average (median) CS2 Premier rating is approximately 8,900, which corresponds to the Light Blue badge colour (8,000-11,999 range). This means roughly half of all ranked Premier players have a rating below 8,900. The Light Blue band is by far the most populated tier, containing about 34% of all ranked players. If your Premier rating is 10,000, you are close to the median but slightly above it. Source: Leetify CS2 rank distribution data, February 2026.

Valve has not published official rank distribution data since CS2 launched in September 2023, and has given no public explanation. The most likely reasons are a combination of avoiding player anxiety about rank and the complexity of publishing accurate data across two concurrent ranked systems (Premier and Matchmaking). Community tools like Leetify have filled the gap with large sample sizes. This page labels its source clearly so you always know whether you are looking at official or estimated data. CS2 has two separate ranked systems. Premier uses a numerical rating (typically 1 to 30,000+) with colour-coded badges and is considered the primary competitive mode. Matchmaking uses the traditional CS rank tiers from Silver I through Global Elite and is available for specific map selections. The two systems have separate MMR pools, meaning your Premier rating and Matchmaking rank are independent. Most competitive players focus on Premier, while Matchmaking serves players who prefer specific maps or the familiar tier-based system. Source: Valve CS2 documentation.

Based on Leetify data, a Premier rating of approximately 20,000 or above places you in the top 1-2% of ranked players. The 20,000-24,999 range (Red and Yellow badge) accounts for about 3% of players, and 25,000+ (Yellow and Gold badges) represents less than 1%. To be in the definitive top 1%, you need a rating in the low-to-mid 20,000s. Reaching 25,000+ puts you in the top 0.8%, and 30,000+ (Gold badge) is the top 0.2%, a level where many semi-professional and professional players compete. Source: Leetify data, February 2026.
